CDS UK hosted it’s ‘Making Connections’ day in mid-May, bringing together core staff, associate therapists, trustees and our founder and patron, Valerie Sinason. Attendees reflected together on the aspects of the work that they found most challenging, the connections they have to support with those areas, and the areas they’d like to learn more about.
CEO Mark Linington announced the launch of the Clinical Forum and the ‘Therapists Connect’ email forum, both of which intend to provide a safe confidential space to explore and learn about different aspects of our clinical work , as well as to deepen the connections the associates have to the clinic and to each other.
After lunch, Deputy Clinical Director Matt Bordonada delivered a presentation on DID-specific safeguarding, with case studies and group work. Then, trustee Julia Beker presented on her research project with the University of Cambridge on inter-identity amnesia in dissociative identity disorder.
Attendees have fed back that they were grateful to make and renew face to face connections with colleagues, have a space to reflect and think through the subject matter together, learn, network and hear about the thoughts for the future of CDS.
As always, we would like to give a big thank you all attendees for giving up their Saturday to offer such valuable insight into the work that they do and to make connections amongst the broader CDS team.
